Wei Yinglong: The Lingyun Temple Chief

Wei Yinglong is the twenty-first chief of Lingyun Temple, self-appointed keeper of a younger sister, and the character NetEase chose to lead its Chongxiao demo. She is the clearest example of how ANANTA differs from the rest of its genre: no summon banner, no listed class, just a job and a city.

Who she is

Wei Yinglong holds the twenty-first seat at Lingyun Temple, a position that in practice makes her responsible for a building, a village, and a child. She describes her motivation as keeping her younger sister, Jiping, out of trouble, and the villagers apparently call her the kid boss of the tiger shrine. The English press has also used village king, which captures the tone better than any formal title.

Her daily routine is the part most guides skip. She runs the temple rather than training in it: upkeep, visitors, tea, and a sister who needs watching. The design reinforces that with a visual gag: she wears an animal-ear hood, and so does Jiping. It reads as a local kid in a costume, not a warrior in ceremonial armour, which is the point.

She is not a chosen one. There is no prophecy, no sealed power, and no amnesia. Her authority comes from a local institution and her reputation among people who have known her since childhood, the kind of grounded position ANANTA uses instead of a class system.

Lingyun Temple is a place, not a faction

Lingyun Temple sits in Chongxiao, in the same district as the glass towers and heritage buildings. The official profiles treat it as a community institution, not a combat order. That distinction shapes how you read her: she is a local leader with a responsibility, not a soldier in a war.

Official material does not explain the temple's relationship to the older Lingjing Supervisory Agency. Do not assume they are the same organisation or that one replaced the other; the only confirmed link is that both appear in Chongxiao's civic history.

How she fights

In the demo, Wei Yinglong is a close-range fighter with a blade and her fists. Her rhythm is block, counter, short chain, reposition. She has no long flashy combo route; she has a punish window that opens when she reads an attack.

Media who played the Chongxiao segment described the feel as heavy, short, and precise, each hit carrying weight and combos extending through environmental objects rather than memorised strings. That is the opposite of the Nova City rhythm, which is faster and more vehicle-dependent.

No skill names, multipliers, cooldowns, or official role labels exist for her. A guide that lists them is inventing them.

The Cologne 2026 demo

The Cologne demo put players in control of Wei Yinglong rather than the Captain, a deliberate statement: the playable cast is wider than the starting four, and you do not need to pull for it. The Captain does not appear in that segment at all.

Two demo missions exist, and they are often merged by mistake. The Cologne showcase was the stealth sequence. An earlier August 2026 session in Tokyo ran the same booth build for a zero-combat stretch instead, built around Wei Yinglong and her sister. Neither replaces the other, so a claim that Chongxiao had only one demo usually means the writer saw one report.

The sequence is stealth, not brawling. She guides her sister through a settlement while an armed group in animal masks searches for them with flashlights. Being spotted sends you back to a checkpoint, and fighting your way out is not the intended solution. The route is visually signposted but not trivial: collapsing floorboards and near-misses are designed to create tension.

Those collapsing boards are a mechanic, not decoration. Enemies nearly drop through the floor as the structure gives way, so the stealth layer is vertical: the route can go down as well as around, and a chase can end with someone falling. Treat the sequence as a flat corridor with patrol cones and you will get caught.

After escaping, she falls into an old well and the demo shifts into underground tunnels and a futuristic ruin with a stranger, more cosmic tone. The section ends with a swimming segment and platforms collapsing fast enough to demand committed movement.

This is a demo mission, not a confirmed structure for the full game. How stealth sequences are triggered in the open world has not been explained.

Her link to Longqi Village

Official profiles name Longqi Village as her hometown. The village is the white-walled, dark-tiled tea settlement shown in the Chongxiao demo, with terraced hills, a market street, tea gardens, and a mix of old housing and modern fixtures such as rooftop solar panels and shared power banks.

The naming is a known trap. Some English pages call the area Longxi; official Chinese material uses Longqi. They are almost certainly the same place, and no official English spelling exists yet. Do not split them into two locations.

Is she playable at launch?

She is on the official roster and was the playable lead of a public demo, stronger evidence than a profile page. What NetEase has not done is publish a launch-day roster with a playable column. Treat her as very likely playable, but not officially promised.

Unlocking her is expected to follow the pattern of other characters: story progress and identity activity rather than a paid pull. There is no gacha in the game, so there is no banner to wait for.

Unconfirmed

Her launch availability, exact unlock trigger, full move list, and any alternate outfits. The stealth demo is a slice, not a promise that her story campaign is structured the same way. The spelling Jiping is a transliteration of the Chinese name; no official English spelling has been published.

The short version

Wei Yinglong is a local chief with a blade, a sister, and a village, and she was handed the Chongxiao demo to prove ANANTA's cast is not a summon pool. Watch her if you care about the second city; she is its human anchor.
